(Francis Creek, WI) August 1 – Manitowoc’s Jimbo Schleis led every lap en route to victory in the 35 lap Mid American Sportsman feature at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek Saturday night.

Schleis sprinted from his pole position into the lead at the drop of the green. Schleis built up a sizeable cushion until a lap 10 yellow flew for a Mike Oswald spin. When racing resumed Adam White of Suamico pulled alongside Schleis and held the lead for three brief laps on the high side with Schleis retaking the lead by lap 14.

Schleis kept all challengers at bay on a mid race restart and won his third feature flag of the season. Tyler Bauknecht of Reedsville sliced his way through the field from 13th to take second. Seymour’s Jamie Schmidt took third, followed by Brett Piontek guest driving Daryl Gerke’s car, and rookie Josh Sand of Francis Creek.

Dan Lewis Photo - danlewisphoto.netKaukauna’s Jesse Van Roy netted a clean sweep of action in the IMCA northern sportmod division, winning her heat and the 20 lap feature in a caution free affair. Bonduel’s Greg Wichman took second, followed by Matt Rowe of Maribel, points leader Keith Kickbush of Kewaunee and Pulaski’s Chuck Grall.

Two Rivers Dave Gauger Jr. fought off a fast closing Lee Kielpikowski of Green Bay to capture the 25 lap super stock feature. Kielpikowski settled for second, followed by Erik Turner, Tim Conard and Kraig Koehler.

Dan Lewis Photo - danlewisphoto.netManitowoc’s Ray Fuller inherited the lead on lap 11 when leader Kris Conard of Manitowoc was black flagged for not obeying the move over flag. Fuller crossed the line first in the caution free, 20 lap IMCA hobby stock feature. However the final results of that contest are on hold pending an official ruling from the tech staff.

Two Rivers Jeremy Hebel won the 25 lap sport four feature.

Next Saturday night, August 8 Manitowoc Trophy will sponsor the night's activities. Qualifying begins at 5:30 p.m. with racing getting underway at 7 p.m. 141 Speedway is located 20 miles south of Green Bay on County Trunk "R" in Whitelaw.
