(Francis Creek, WI) August 8 – Seymour’s Jamie Schmidt snuck past Manitowoc’s Gregg Haese on a lap 18 restart to win his first career 24 lap Mid American Sportsman feature at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek Saturday night.
Rain showers started coming down during a lap 24 yellow. Heavy, persistent rains forced track officials to cancel the balance of the program.
Haese jumped into the lead from the pole position at the drop of the green. Seymour’s Jamie Schmidt tailed Haese for the first half of the contest, up until a lap 18 yellow flew for a Todd Mott spin.
The caution tightened the field and on the restart Schmidt motored past Haese to take the lead. Schmidt had begun distancing himself from the field when a yellow was thrown on lap 24 for a Crystal Wood spin.
When the races attempted to restart heavy rain showers fell, and the race was red flagged. Schmidt was declared the winner.
The rest of the features were rained out for the evening.
Next Saturday night, August 15 will feature the Bank First National kid’s coin toss night. It will also be championship night for the Cretton Enterprises Triple Crown Series for sport fours.
141 Speedway is located 20 miles south of Green Bay on County Trunk "R" in Whitelaw.
