(Francis Creek, WI) - Track officials at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek have decided to allow IMCA-style modifieds to compete with the track's weekly sportmod class on Saturday night, September 12.
As an incentive to draw cars, the track will be paying $400 to the winner of the modified feature that night. "If we are able to draw 18 or more mods we'll bump it up to $500 to win," said track investor Bruce Conard. "Some drivers couldn't afford to go race any specials out of town this weekend. So we've decided to give this a shot and see how it goes."
Rules will be simple - the regular IMCA style modified and sportmod rules with no claim. Only IMCA legal tires will be allowed. No pavement slicks will be allowed. "If some pavement modifieds want to come and run Saturday they must mount on the IMCA legal tires to run," said Conard. IMCA-type hobby stocks will also be running with only street legal, D.O.T. tires being allowed to run.
